Primary Learning Outcomes
After identifying and researching major forms of stress, (both distress and eustress), the student will organize the data. The organization of data is based on the degree of impact on personal and social health using measurable criteria such as a ranking of the severity of the stress.
Additional Learning Outcomes
After learning web researching techniques and to work within a small group using MS Access, the students will build a collaborative database which includes credit for sources used.

Procedures/Activities/Web Resources
Step: 1 Duration: 50 minutes
The teacher will briefly describe stress as anything which affects health. The teacher will then explain that the students are going to research any health affecting stress, both positive (eustress) or negative (distress). Describe web researching techniques and assists students with links to helpful web sites i.e. http://www.bccsblazers.org/mr__saponaro.htm.
Step: 2 Duration: 50 minutes for three sessions or as needed.
Teacher will facilitate as needed.
Step: 3 Duration: 50 minutes
The teacher will explain that their findings are to be reported within a database (MS Access) and include the researcher's identification (each student is to be assigned a job within a group), a description of the stress, a ranking of the severity of the stress and the source of the information i.e. http://www.bccsblazers.org/stress_list.htm.
Step: 4 Duration: 50 minutes for three sessions or as needed.
Teacher will facilitate as needed.

Assessment
A Rubric/Evaluation Chart for student assessment is included (Student Evaluation Rubric). Each student and the instructor completes an evaluation for each period. A final examination is given based on notes prepared by the instructor i.e. Exam Study Guide
Extension
The students may learn how to place their database on the school web site.
Remediation
One-on-one time with the teacher may be helpful if a student struggles with research or reporting results. Encourage students within groups to share techniques.

Modification
Below are suggested modifications correlated to the
procedures of this lesson plan.
A word processing program with spell check and grammar check can be used with
students who are struggling. Assistance may be necessary using a search engine
or links to specific sites may be supplied. A database interface module
would assist those requiring help with data entry.
